Here you can see my DualShock 3 Controller connected via usb is listed, if your controller is not listed unplug it and plug it back in to the usb and wait for a few moments then click Reload this page at the top right. By that time you should be able to see your device listed and click the button that says install all (it will overwrite your existing drivers for bluetooth adaptors, but i just went ahead and accepted it and it has not made much of a difference appart from allowing me to use a DualShock 3 as a game controller) Note: you still need to press install all even if you are only using this via USB Now close DS3 Tool and make sure it is not running in the system tray its the one that is a DualShock 3 controller logo (if it is right-click the Exit button).
Now if you press the buttons on your DualShock 3 Control you should see the buttons light up/move confirming it is in working order.
I've been trying to get the Dual shock to work with my PC for months without much joy. The only real way to get these things working is to use drivers that emulate xBox controllers from motioninjoy. The drivers and the software from motioninjoy dont seem to be my problem. When I first tried to get it to work I plugged in my PS3 controller and it was recognised as a playstation dual shock USB controller by windows. However at the time I couldn't get the drivers to make it work properly.
I've fannied about, deleted old motioninjoy drivers re installed newer ones and now I get a message saying that the USB device that I plug in (the dual shock or nav controller) is not recognised which means what ever I do i cant get the dam thing to work. Where do I go from here (other than buy an xBox controller) or give up. Without even opening MotioninJoy the dualshock should be recognised as a PS3 controller by Windows, I know it does under XP/Vista/7 so assume it's the same on 8. A bit of googling suggests that you can search for 'USB' in the Windows 8 Start menu, then select 'Set up USB game controllers' option under the 'Settings' heading. This should list the controllers that Windows recognises, if you then select the controller and click on 'Properties' and 'Test' you should have a screen like this: On that screen when you press buttons on the controller it will light up a button on screen corresponding to that button. If you can get this far then it's all gravy, if not you've royally fecked your Windows drivers for gamepads by the looks of it. I uninstalled it again and got the 6.0005 version.

It seems to work for me, BUT i reckon I was just expecting it to work everytime I switched my PC on. You have to load up the motioninjoy software and ENABLE the xbox checkbox before you load the game you want to play in. I tried it on Crysis 3 and its really good. I've tried swapping the L1, L2 and R1 with R2 buttons as this seems more like a DS3 controller set up.
I played a bit on warframe last night, my turn speed was really slow with a pad, dont know if I can change this ingame, All in all though chuffed that I can now actually play games with my PS3 controller. I really dont like all the ad links on the site though, wish there were alternative drivers for the Ds3, I might look into getting a differernt controller that emulates the xBox one but feels like a DS3 pad such as the madCatz, Logic 3 or Logitech models, or possibly one of the cheap £6 things oneBay. Does anyone use any of these, or another similar looking pad (not the xBox) ones?
I bought a speedlink gamepad some years ago and i've never actually used it. So i thought i'd use it now for pc gaming.
However, i have installed the driver from the website(latest) and the ones that were in the CD that came with the gamepad. My pc recognizes the gamepad as 'Unknown Device' and no matter how many times i install, uninstall and reinstall the drivers it just stays there as 'Unknown Device' with some drivers installed, even when i have just uninstalled them! When i got my pc, like 3 months ago i did play a game with the gamepad but now this happens.
I got the Speedlink Strike2 SL-6535 gamepad, this one right here I even tried to install the drivers with a different compatability(Win 2000/Me, XP Service pack 3) but no luck. I have windows 7, 64-bit, btw. I bought a speedlink gamepad some years ago and i've never actually used it. So i thought i'd use it now for pc gaming.

I have a USB Microsoft Joystick (SideWinder Precision 2) and a USB generic Gamepad (PowerWave-2200) for my PC. The original drivers will not install on my Windows 7 PC, because Windows 7 has decided that it’s “HID-compliant game controller” is the best for the job. While both my USB devices currently does work with limited capacity on most games, the problem is that, where as a real driver (a product specific driver) would have enabled me to control what the buttons on the USB device do, this is not possible through Windows’ “HID-compliant game controller”, there are even functions built in to the USB device that will not work with the “HID-compliant game controller”, such as the PowerWave’s ability to vibrate.
However here is the question: As the Windows “HID-compliant game controller” is a generic controller/driver, working with a lot of different USB devices, it would seem that a perfect solution to the problem would be to make it possible to set, or control, the code coming out of the “HID-compliant game controller” – So, does anyone have (or can someone develop) a driver-type program that can allow you to customise (set, control or re-program) the functions interpreted by the “HID-compliant game controller” of the input signals from the USB device? Just to clarify: So, the idea is a train of command as follows: from “USB device” to “HID-compliant game controller” to “driver-type program” to “Game software”. (Or does anyone know if it is possible to directly access the “HID-compliant game controller” and change its function settings, from behind the scene so to say?) Cheers J.N. Let’s try the below steps and check.
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. In Device Manager, locate SideWinder Precision, and then double-click the device name. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver and follow the instructions.

Hi Umesh P, thank you for your time and attention in an effort to help me (and others) in finding a solution to the described problem. First a bit more information about my setup: The exact name and model number of the joystick is: Microsoft SideWinder Precision 2 Joystick.
Product ID: 52862-5-00000 I am wanting to use the Joystick with a Need For Speed (NFS) game. In this instance this particular game program can only be played with a keyboard, so I am wanting be able to program (or set) the button functions on the Joystick to simulate keys pressed on a keyboard. (I would actually prefer to use the generic game pad for this instead, because of the positions of the buttons on the input device, but as this is a Microsoft forum it is probably appropriate to first focus on the Microsoft product) This is what happens, I plug in the SideWinder Precision 2 Joystick, go to the Control Panel Hardware and Sound Device Manager.
C4g Dual Shock Gamepad
The only change here is an added “HID-compliant game controller” and a “USB Input Device”, both located within the “Human Interface Devices”, nothing else – i.e. There is no dedicated “SideWinder Precision” in the Device Manager.
If I go to the Control Panel Hardware and Sound Devices and Printers a new icon has now also popped up, it is called “SideWinder Precision 2 Joystick” but it depicts a generic game pad device, not a Joystick. I now insert the original driver CD for the Joystick and run the Setup.exe – but this gives me this information “The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running. Check your computer’s system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.” (My Operating System is Win7 64bit, but it should still be able to run 32bit programs). Anyway, I then go to the Properties of the Setup.exe file and change the Compatibility to “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)”. I run the Setup.exe again but it still shows the same message i.e.
“The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running.”. A search on “Microsoft Download Center” reveals the Ms does not have any new drivers for their joystick, so I am stock. Gamepad Controller Drivers For Pc
So, ran into a little issue with Windows 7 64bit which I've recently switched to, it keeps installing the generic drivers (2 to be exact, HID-compliant game controller and USB Input Device) which are missing Force Feedback support (and yes, I'm sure the device has Force Feedback, with the proper driver, it worked on Windows 7 32bit). If there ever was a driver CD, I lost it about a year ago and can't seem to find it, and have been searching for drivers for the better part of the day, but whenever I try to manually update the driver, it just decides the generic ones are a better bet, and whenever I try to use a.INF to install it (which very few drivers online have, in my experience), the installer says that there are either no compatible drivers, or if there are, that they're not compatible with a 64bit OS. The gamepad has no real designation visible on the case, it just says DoubleShock Controller, however, I do remember the driver being called something like PS2 TO PC USB CONVERTER, and yes, the actual driver name was in all caps, and yes, I tried searching for it.
Do I not have the right drivers, or am I doing something blatantly wrong? Hi, I realize that you are facing issues with USB drivers. I will try to help you with this issue. Follow these steps to reinstall the USB drivers automatically:. Click 'Start' button, type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotation marks) in the “Search” bar and press 'Enter'.

Click “Continue” if necessary. In Device Manager, double click to expand 'Universal Serial Bus controllers', right click on the Host Controller, click 'Uninstall' and click 'OK'. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'. Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. Also ensure to install any pending Windows updates on the PC and restart the computer to check if that helps. Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.
Follow these steps to install the driver in compatibility mode and check if that helps. Download the program from the manufacturer’s website. Right-click on the setup file and click on ‘properties’. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists. Keep us informed to help you further.
